Login Every 30 Days

To protect Veteran data and VA systems, beginning Monday, March 23, 2026, VA network accounts that have been inactive for 30 days will be disabled, aligning with federal cyber security best practices. Your official network account is what you use to sign in to VA computers, Outlook email, Teams, VPN, and other VA systems with your PIV or username and password.

Activity is based on your account, not your specific device. Any valid sign-on onsite or through approved remote access (VPN, Azure, Citrix), using a VA device or approved Bring Your Own Device (BYOD), counts toward your activity. This policy change applies to all VA staff, including Health Professions Trainees (HPTs), rotational staff, and contractors.

What To Do

Sign in to the VA network at least once every 30 days to keep your account active.
If your account becomes disabled, call the Enterprise Service Desk (ESD) at 855-673-4357 (TTY: 711) and select Option 2 for assistance.
If you will be on approved military leave or Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) contact IT in advance. Your account can be marked exempt during your leave and IT will help plan re-enablement upon your return.

What Else You Need to Know

· You may request to modify or re-enable an account through yourIT.

· For questions or support, use the Chat bubble in yourIT or ESD icon in Teams.

· Accounts inactive for 180 days will be deleted unless they are flagged as exempt.
